I have always recommended replacing the IC pump every 70-80K miles. SteveO has always cleaned and reused his. I had a dead one today on an 02 Harley 86K miles. Customers usually never know their pump is dead... So I pulled the pump and pulled the back cover and cleaned all the motor dust out of it. It ran strong and smoothly afterwards. There are brushes that are wearing down so it will not last forever but it did allow me to tune the truck today. There are a few small pieces and skills that are required to do this task. But it may get you another 30K miles out of your pump.

Folks should check their reservoirs regularly. There should be a god strong swirling current. If it is weak or non existent you need to fix your pump. When the pump runs slow or not at all your secondary air temps go through the roof. The computer pulls a chunk of timing and everything suffers..

LFP Sells them for around $90 or so. Don't go to ford, they will rape you for $300 or so.

That's odd. Mine's been crankin' solid and not losing any coolant since 3/03. But, I've lost 3 coil-packs (# 1 & 2 at the same exact time and #5 later). Still runs like a top to this day.
Go figure. These silly Lightnings. :evil

Just checked LFP's website, they are listed for $139.95. Don't remember what I was looking at for that price.
