Oh yeah, I forgot. Well crap. I wont be going to FFW without some sort of good traction device. I just spent half the night spinning down the track.

Yeah I seen the post on LR about the new converter. Hope everything comes thru for ya. Especially with FFW right around the corner.

Do you weld charlie? I built my own set of truck tracs for my Gen2. Bought all the parts at home deport except the rubber snubbers (O'Reily's) And they worked pretty well for me. Just a thoguht.

Yes I do. Sometime I even make things stick together:eek:

Yeah I know, shocking to me too.

And yeah if some one does not get back to me today I will make a set. I've been thinking about making an adjustable set.

Thanks
Charlie

Hey Charlie if you can't get in touch with terry in time, Tim at Chicken Ears might be a thought. He's on the ball with shipping on everything too. I know he carries most Metco Products, just don't know how his prices match up with what Terry might be able to get you.

You have a 2800, right? How is it driving around town?

charlie
10-04-2008, 01:50 PM
Well I've been getting schooled on suspension set up. And it seems I'll be spending a lot more money than I thought. So I'm out for FFW this year.:(

So far the list is.
Remove the front sway bar.
Metco's or long bars. (the shorter ones) Or something I make myself.
Taller slicks
QA1 shocks
And something about pinion angle?

On the street trans settings, its OK. But I left it on the race tune comming home last nigh. Not so good. It got just a tad to warm for me.

There is no way he run a 9 sec 1/4 in a lowered Lightning with no traction device, and lifted the frount tires off the ground.

And I'm running MT DR.s

That truck has swapped out the front spings for JDM Drag springs,qa1 shocks and 2" drop shackles. Oh and he had the JDM 58" Long bars on there as well.

plus bogarts up front and rear, When Ron first got his bogart front runners he handed it to me, you can literally hold them with one finger, they are super light

The truck in the video has to have major front suspension work done, removal of front sway bar, etc

Here is a link to the info. about the truck. It has been sold a while back and nothing major has been done other than a new cowl hood, exhaust system a few weeks ago and replaced the front broken JDM drag spings. BC is right, it also has bogarts front and rear and they weight next to nothing.

If I remember correctly this is the suspension and wheels Ron has, except Ron has metco uppers and stock 03-04 ride height, having a cage helps the truck when launching also

H.P./Torque and good slicks will do a nice wheely on a stock L. suspension.Give me 300 more H.P. and hold my beer ill show you:rll::tu:

if you still have the stiff stock front suspension then it wont do a wheelie, sorry but not possible

Well I bought a set of Hoosier slicks 28X10X16.
I hope those and removing the front sway bar is good enough.

Im talkin a real wheelie and some real H.P..Front dont care its gona be in the air. With a stiff front end it wont damage anything when it comes down either like i see everytime i go to Enniss and wait for em to clean the mess off the track.I do believe in traction bars, but i still think a stock L. susp. will pop a wheelie with some good H.P. and tires:icon_mrgreen:9MnTSITx5gQ :bows:bows BTW what does the front end care about the rear end where all the powers going to.Stock sets up higher so would be less work to lift it.

Yeah thats Fuzzy's truck, I wanted my truck to be just like his... however my pockets were too shallow so I gave up. Went back the LSx were its cheaper to go as fast, not quiet the same pimp factor tho.

Thats funny you said that. I was following the same path. Even spoke to him a few times, asking questions.

I ran out of money after I built the engine. None left for the Whipple, or turbo. :(

Oh well........ Back to saving pennies.

Yeah it's fuzzie's truck he has MAJOR suspension work done and a BIG turbo, aluminum block, 4 valve heads

all you need is that one time with no traction bars for you truck to hook and say good bye to your drive shaft

Its all about weight transfer, getting as much weight over the rear when launching, so you need drag suspension up front and removal of the sway bar

here are pics of Fuzzie's truck now

I'm not going that deep with this truck.

I have decided on a goal of good street manners and 7.5 1/8th mile with the heaton. And I'll make myself be happy with that.......... Yeah right:rolleyes:

Hey whats up guys. Just searching the site and ran across this. Just to clear a few things up and maybe help yall...........Before I decided to go turbo I had a very streetable truck. It was actually more street friendly with the 4valve and 3.4. It idled like a stock lightning and was much quieter. As far as the suspension goes there was nothing special done. I still had stock upper and lower control arms, JDM Drag springs (couldn't tell a difference between them and stock ones on the street because I just set the shocks a little stiffer to offset their softness), Front QA 1's, Stock 02' Leafs (took out my 04' leafs and replaced them with the 02's because they offer a lower ride and are a little stronger at that ride height verses taking out 2 04' leafs), Rear Strange adjustable shocks, Corbeau seats and batter relocated to the bed. Thats it. Pinion angle is what is most overlooked when setting the suspension up on these trucks. I had front and rear bogarts. For rear tires you guys are either going to wanna run the hoosier radials or MT ET Streets. I've went 1.42's on the hooser radials and 1.40's on the MT's. Let me know if yall have anymore questions I'd like to help because I know how aggrivating traction issues can be.....I look forward to being a part of the site.
