Well I raced an M3 yesterday from about a 15 mph punch, I broke loose for just a second which was enough to be behind about 1.5 M3 car lengths but he did not gain after! We zipped about 1/8 mile and I am sure after he got through patting himself on his back he had to think dang that crew cab ford just ran the crap out of my little M3!!!!
Oh well if I hadnt spun I think I could have stayed right with him!!

Sounds like you hung right with him. Those things run low-13s. You can't do much about wheelspin, and that's a problem with all that torque you have.

It was fun, not sure how much difference it makes, but I was heading home when this just materialized so I had the air conditioning going.
Made want to have a Lightning instead of the Harley right then!!!!

A/C will cost you a little power (10-15hp possibly).

Yeah, I don't know how much power your truck makes compared to mine, but a Lightning equipped the same way would have killed him from a low-speed punch like that.

Chances are if you'd raced from 25-80, you'd have been right by his side. You want to run at the top of 1st gear... anything less than that, you will spin the tires since you're not running a drag radial type tire. But if you try to race him from 75-120, you'll get beat there too.

Are you running Nitto Drag Radials? if not, get some.. then your wheelspin will be a thing of the past.

Dana, no the Harley has 20" wheels and I dont think Nitto makes drag radials that big?? But I have not checked!!
I have goodyear tires

Todd, Nitto makes a 275/40-20 and a 305/35-20. I don't know what size your stock Harley tires are, but maybe one of these (probably the 275) would work.

I raced a newer M3 in Frisco a few months back. We did a 15mph punch as well as we raced up a slight hill. Neck and neck for at least an 1/8 mile when I had to slow down due to traffic. We pulled over and it was a guy my age, 21. I asked what he payed for his car since he said he had just bought it the day before. He said "$40,000, you?" I said "$10,000" with a huge smile.:icon_biggrin:
