I was curious about when I'm starting my Lightning, if the gauge needles are supposed to jump every time I start my truck, or just most of the time.

It may be from dirty cable ends or battery voltage drop during cranking. Look at those items or check voltage during start up with a helper.

I'm pretty sure i need a new battery. I'm guessing by what you told me that this could be the problem? Thanks

my gauges did the full sweep on start up, a new battery fixed it:tu:

+1. Mine did that for about 2 days then the battery crapped out completely. Kind of an inadvertent early warning system I guess....

My gauges just "wake up" as expected on start up.
The only time I've ever seen a full-sweep on the gauges is when I had the stock battery out for a period and installed an Optima Red-Top.
Just my experience.
