Damn the luck... Heater Core

We'll my wifes heater core kicked the bucket.... got to perform a bypass on it, in a coldass parking lot this evening at 10:30pm. She got to drive it home 35mins w/o the heater (obviously!!), sucked to be her. Actually it sucked to be me... it was pretty damn cold being under that car soaked in antifreeze. That shit doesn't work I was freezing (gay joke but I cant help it I'm buzzzed)!!. Looks like I get to play w/ that this weekend. Stupid Grand Am WTF... what a piece.

Hate to hear that. I hate heater cores. I had a 96 Mustang that went through 3 heater cores in the span of about 2 years. That was the only problem I ever had with that Mustang, but it sure was a beating. Very expensive to have replaced because they had to take apart the dashboard.

Yep I got one of those- its my beater. They are notorious for a coolant intake leak in the lower manifold. I have to fill my reservoir up at least once a week.

Knock on wood.... haven't had the leak in the lower manifold yet. Which motor is it common in... 4 banger or v6??

That damn car has been through a two radiators, water pump, reservoir, reservoir cap, almost every hose that has coolant running through it, and now the heater core... all in about the last year and a half (all replaced due to failure). It has the notorious water leaking in the inside when it rains, the traction control always off malfunction, trans slip occasionally problem (some solenoid is defective), and the rattling a/c problem. Window motors died a year ago too.... Anyhow its about time for my wife to get a new car, but I'm sure as hell not paying for it!! Call me a dick I guess!! IMO she can pay for her own shit.

3.4 L V6 is the problem one- other than that the car has been solid- I can't kill the car and believe I've tried.
