Changing Front Brake Pads, cant get calibers off

I'm changing my front brake pads and have the 2 bolts off on the inside of the caliber that holds the caliber in place, but can’t seem to get the caliber off. I'm going off these instructions: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/how-187/123732-front-brake-job.html (http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/how-187/123732-front-brake-job.html) and am on step 4:2. I’ve tried pulling the caliber with all my might and even wedging it a little with a flat head, but it’s not budging even a millimeter. This is my first pad change, am I missing something here?

Pull the two T45 torx head bolts and pry the caliper sideways a little to push the pistons back. Then they hinge back and out. On the drivers side I think they hinge top out first, I think the passenger side is bottom out first.

Of course I don’t have a torque head that big.... I'll have to throw the wheels back and run to Lowes tomorrow morning.

T45 is a little loose, Ford brakes use a T47. I found one at Autozone when I did mine.

Well I got the pads on. But now I can’t get the caliber back around them because the pistons are so stiff. I don’t think I’m going to use svtperformance.com's “How-To” any more. Every time I use them I run into something that’s not on the instructions. My friend said he would bring some tool tomorrow to push the pistons down evenly. So close yet so far:(

you should be able to use a small board and a c-clamp.

Do them one at a time so you don't pop the pistons out of the other side. You have to force both pistons back into the caliper. It is all part of a basic brake yob. The parts stores sell a tool for this. I just use an old brake pad and C-clamp or welders vise grips to squeeze them back. Like the one this guy uses.

Wow, thanks. Should have it finished in no time in the morning. Then I'm changing the oil, and cleaning the engine compartment.

I always use the old pads and a C clamp the compress the pistons back in.

That's what I ended up doing. The first one took me forever because of some misleading instructions and having to wait on a C clamp. The second one took me maybe 10min.
