about to grab an L for a good price its an 02 true blue with lots of mods running 10.9s in the quarter. one problem, one of the spark plugs was blown out. hooray for ford not taking to the fall for that one but anywaya we all know that shin-dig

my question is:

what to do about spark plug blow out? do i:
1) just buy a used set of 03 heads?
2) get one of those thread fixers
3) have the guy im buying it from take it to ford and then he will tack that onto the final price
4) im not looking to get performance heads....yet. this will be a daily until i pay the loan off.

anyways, all suggestions are welcomed! im getting pretty excited for the new arrival.

Which cylinder is it?

Steel heli coils do not work. You can only use BigSerts and few shops have them. The Ford Big Sert kit is about 600 bucks. Most holes can be fixed on the truck. A few require pulling the top end off for access.

if it were me I'd replace the heads, trick flow just released some 2v heads that are flowing better than 4v heads and cheaper cost. plus i'd pull the motor and check the rest of the block to make sure there isn't any other damage, a truck as fat as ours running those times/speeds will put some stress on the bottom end

Not to possibly over-look the obvious but, were the heads stock or did the stock heads have any after-mkt work done or were they actually after-mkt heads?

I understand that the 01/02 heads had several less threads than the 03/04 heads that prevented the blown-plug issue.

My 02 L stock-engine L had loosened out a number of plugs a bit that tightened back down with no issues.

Good luck and BC has a good suggestion.

Where is it located? If its near Waco, it could be my old truck. Got a VIN number?

No friend of mine, and I did not need help with getting rid of the truck. this guy was out of Waco, and works in the oilfields south of ft. worth. I'm real interested to know if its my old one or not...

You need to get a lot more information on this truck before ever considering purchasing it.
I don't know of any Blue 10.9 Gen 2 trucks around here.

The only one that I knew that existed and hit 10.90's was Mike Anderson's truck out of Houston. PSI did the tuning, along with JDM.

There was a Baylor kid a few years back(05-06 maybe) w/ a built motor, KB, etc. I don't recall ever seeing any times posted. I never saw the truck, but I think it had a cage as well. I don't think it ever ran the way it was supposed to, but I might be totally wrong about that.

What was the guy's name that sold his for a SRT8 Jeep and used to work me Mark#1 at Delta?

He had a TrueBlue but not capable of 10.9's-

well i know i started this thread but um i have decided to not get that truck haha

anyways, its because i found a hella good deal, i think, in fort worth at the autobahn dealer:

2004 DSG lightning w/ 68xxx

any ones on here? traded away for an M5 at this dealership?

anyways i have a question for the owner or anyone.

my father was able to go see it, drive it, and check it out for me and he had one complaint that could be a very big deal.

he said that no oil was touching the dipstick :icon_evil:, does this mean that when it was changed they forgot a quart? or are the rings going and its burning oil? my dad was able to get on it and the oil pressure was perfect, no fluctuations, also the truck didnt smoke like itw as burning oil...

what do you think? the dealer is getting it compression tested tomorrow for us and that will determine whether im finally a proud SVT owner or not.

im hoping for the best but who knows.

what do yall think? ya or ney?

They eat oil which is fine as long as you keep it full.

thank you! i was trying to tell my dad that but he was a mechanic back when the dinasaurs and carbeuration was around. haha jk jk jk

but anyways as we all nkow that dipstick shouldnt be dry. esp in a supercharged vehicle.

so you think the last guy was just an idiot?

see its a one owner vechile!!

The sales guys have probally been taking it home in the evenings and are just parking back in the lot the next day, so the service center never knows to go out and check the oil....

It helps to top it off yourself to see how low it was. They hold 6.4 qts so less than 5qts won't hit the stick. 5 qts won't hurt the engine either. Most dealers always change the oil. Because that is the extent of most buyers is to pull the dipstick out.... So when prospective buyers see clean golden 99 cent oil they assume it is mechanically cream puff!
