Some of the relatives still live in the land of rotary phones and rabbit ears and tin foil. So after being here a few days.
I decided to see what this new $11 digital box(with coupon) would do to the reception of the 3 channels they watch with many rolling lines and shadows.
Wow, 12 channels, menus, stereo, current/future shows, and a clear HD picture. The over the air HD is great :tex
I am going to get a couple of these $11 boxes as cable is 720p compressed and the over the air may be better?

I have a rooftop antenna and can get at least a dozen or more HD channels at the casa - free HD rocks
If times get tight the fios TV will go - I will miss the DVR though ...
Im in the land of 60 mph winds and 30 inches of snow in the last 3 weeks - it rained yesterday and all the snow is gone - so not some neighborhoods are flooding

HD broadcast antennas are a scam. All you need is a regular ant like Doug pointed out. I pick up the local stuff on my wabbit ears with the foil balls. :tex I hear broadcast HD is up to 1080p and most cable is 720p. So I guess you could get a better picture from on air HD.
