PIAA lights?

I am ordering the PIAA extreme plus headlight bulbs (9007). Does anyone know what bulb # is in the fog lights on an 01? I pulled the bulb and it says 9145. I have read on a couple of sights that the 9005 is a direct replacement also. I just want to confirm this before I order the 9005.

You can use the 9005, but it's a headlamp bulb so they will run a little warm. Just don't run them for long periods of time in the rain or it might mess the housing up(crack it). I think the 9145 can only be gotten thru the dealer, if my mind serves me right this late at night. :cool:

Just went to Autozone.com and you can get 9145 Silverstars. Most guys run the 9005 for the extra light.. but Z is right, the extra heat causes all kinds of other issues if you are willing to put up with them..

Anyone else have any info. I have the 9145 bulbs, I am just trying not to have bright headlights with the dim looking fog lights.

You might try the silverstars since they tend to be a "whiter" light than regular bulbs.. it'll set you back $20 for one to test it out but that is pocket change for some too.. I run 9005 silverstars in mine.. but have learned to use them sparingly and not in the rain.. they last longer but I have replaced my fair share of foglamps in my L. There have been many attempts at solutions with the latest being to completely change out the foglamps with an aftermarket lamp.

9005 is the fog-light part # for the fog bulbs, as I recall for the Silverstars.

Big difference over the stock bulbs.

Thought about that but I don't think I want to put that kind of money into it since it may be going up for sale when and if the Camaro comes out.

1st.. just go get a 9145 silverstar and give it a try to see what it looks like.. just buy one and you will be able to compare it to the other side.. if you dont like it, then you arent out a bunch of money.. trust me on this one. :icon_wink:
