I just got back from a goose hunting trip that i went on with a bunch of guys from work. We used Stanfield Hunting Outfitters as our guide and lodge providers. I was very excited about this trip ever since i booked it in november. We arrived wednesday afternoon at the lodge to find that we had the whole place to ourselves, being a weekday hunt we kinda figured we would be one of few if not the only ones there. Well we kicked back in the lodge and played pool untill our guide arrived. About 2:30 our afternoon duck hunt guide arrived, he was a very colorfull character. So we set out and drive about 25-30 mins into a flooded marsh area. The guide sets up the decoys and we wait in the tall marshes. The guide calls in 8 ducks in and we hit a total of 6. So we drive back to the lodge and start drinking as soon as we get there. We stay up almost all night drinking beer and playing poker and pool. So a couple of hours go by and i awaken to a man yelling at the tops of his lungs BREAKFAST!!!! And the first words out of my mouth are where the hell am i? I realize where i am and what im doing there and look at my phone to see what time it is. Its 4 am. Well we gather ourselves and go to eat breakfast, they had cooked fresh eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, and toast. Well we ate our fill and loaded up in the truck and headed out to the field where we would be doing our hunting. We get into the middle of this field and the guide tells us to dig a hole long enough to lay down in. So we get all our holes dug and then we help the guide set out 400 goose decoys. Once we finish its just starting to show daylight. We lay down in our pre dug graves and wait for the geese to come our way. About an hour goes by with nothing to be seen. And then all of a sudden this big black cloud appears on the horizon. Its nothing but geese. Once they get close enough for the guide to call them in he starts at it. The first flock comes in and takes the bait right away, about 150 geese are hovering over head trying to land, and out of the blue i hear KILL EM'!!! We pop out of our holes and drop 7 geese right away. The rest of the morning was just like this each time it was still amazing to see that many geese just waiting to be blasted out of the sky. Sorry to go on for so long but i wanted to give a good story about how much i enjoyed this whole expierence. The guys at Stanfield really know what they are doing and i give them props for being so into what they do. I would reccomend this place to anyone of my friends, or anyone for that matter. So if you want to have a great hunting adventure jus tgive them a call. I was very impressed. They do goose, duck, feral hog, pheasant, dove, deer, predator, and quail hunts. I give them 2 thumbs up!!!! :tu::tu:
