I've been reading and seeing a lot about them lately. Some of the stuff is pretty neat. Take this for instance (http://www.inhabitat.com/2009/01/27/shelby-supercars-unveals-aero-ev-specs/).
According to Shelby, the Ultimate Aero EV will be able to produce over 1,000 horsepower that will power the vehicle from 0-60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds!.....claiming that their vehicle’s battery will be able to be charged in less than 10 minutes and will provide around 150 miles on a charge
I was watching a show the other day where they had the Wrightspeed X1 (http://www.wrightspeed.com/x1.html). It was out running everything. For the X1, it has a very small number of parts. You have a battery, an inverter, and an electric motor. No transmission or anything. The motor spins up to 13k. They kept racing it against exotic cars and it kept outrunning everything in sheer acceleration.
