Cranked her up for the first time in nearly 2 months tonight & it felt goooood! She's running a little rough, but the longer she ran, the more she smoothed out. I do think that I may have a small issue to diag though... Idle is rough, stalled on me after it was in gear for about 15 seconds. I'll go through all of the vac lines & electrical tomorrow to figure out the idle issue & then break her in right.
I will say this, rough idle aside, (not terrible, but should be smoother) when I crack the throttle, she wraps up pretty quick.
The only other issue I have is that the brand new O'Reilly's belt tensioner is a paperweight... belt was squealing like a stuffed pig. I was able to pull the belt on & off with one hand if that tells you anything about how tight it is.
Overall, I can't complain about the price... Machine work totalled up to about $900.00. On top of the usual valve job/cyl hone/rod recondition, that included shaving the heads .030 to up the compression slightly; assembled the bottom end with ARP hardware, and they provided my rings, bearings & a Fel-Pro gasket set. I also replaced all the sensors, injectors, most of the hardware, Bassani headers, new MSD dizzy, converted from a flat tappet, to roller cam & rockers & a few other odds & ends for roughly an additional $1500.00 Overall, it wasn't as bad as it could have been price wise.

$1500 to totaly rebuild your motor?! I always thought it was almost twice that to get done?

It's hydraulic roller,

Actually it was $900.00 (machine work, rings bearings & gaskets) plus $1500.00 for the extras, so I've got about $2400 into it total, but still not bad in my opinion.

So you have it broke in yet?
You going to the track Friday?

Did you get your ass kicked for cranking it up the other night? :rll:

Not broken in yet... haven't even touched it sice I cranked it on Tues. Too much school crap got in the way.
Yep, got my ass kicked, but it was worth it.

Chris... I didn't fire it up open headers... I thought about it, but I didn't. I have in the past though & it sounded good!
