Anybody here know what's involved in putting a stock radio with in-dash 6 CD changer out of an '04 L in my '99 L with the changer behind the seat? Do they use the same harness in the back of the radio? The display went out on mine and I was thinking of upgrading. I hate having to get behind the seat to change CDs.

If I recall the radio will plug right in but there is no connector for the changer. Do a search here or on NLOC, I know this is a common upgrade. Also, if your display went out, you might just have a bad solder joint that can easily be fixed.

Call Crutchfield I bet they have an adapter or better yet get an IPOD interface and be done with CD's for ever:tu:

Just don't ask Cruthfield about double din radios for our truck. They will swear up and down that they do not fit. :tex
Ask me how I know. lol....They had me confused as all hell a while back when I first bought my truck. So much so, that I still have the stock radio in my truck. :throw:

there are some great deals on DVD/CD/MP3/Sat Radio double dins, I have seen some as low as $200, granted it doesn't have the built in hard drive, GPS Nav, but still a better replacement than the stock radio

I am in love with the Alpine units, especially the W505. I have just been hesitant due to safety reasons. When I have a solid glass in the back, I will feel a little better about spending money on the interior and sound system. Kenwood has made some really nice radios here lately too.

I am happy with my 04 deck in my 00 truck. It hooked right up with out any problems and have had no issues with it. But then again Jeff had the same deck in there at one time so that is probably why the harness fit just fine with both a 04 deck and a 00 deck.

Thanks for the info. I've upgraded the speakers to Infinity, but I don't plan on doing anything else to the system and want to keep the interior stock in appearance. :tu:

wow, thanks.. that may be the unit I was looking at..
for the record.. I have a Mustang MP3 unit in my L.. fit right in and lets me play mp3's from the cd unit in the dash, plus I have a ipod connection that is located in my glove box.. this did make me disconnect the 6 disc in back but since I can put more music on my ipod or on a few mp3 cd's, its not missed.

Looks like it is plug and play after a little inner dash modification
