I decided not to waste my time signing on over there. They are obviously completely clueless. The guy beat a 5.4 truck, Lightning wanna-be. Don't they realize that it probably runs 15.3-15.5 at best? That means that the Chevy might run mid-high 14s.

No. 2. My cutouts made an extra 13 hp on the dyno.
No. 3. An N/A 5.3L with a good sized CAM, pulleys, 80mm TB, CAI, LT headers, ORY, e-fans, stall, 4.10s, and a tune will make OVER 100 hp at the flywheel than a stock motor.

I must've stopped reading it before he admitted his mistake. I'm sorry... you don't post up misinformation. Let's be honest... he pulled 1.5 lengths on a truck that maybe makes 300hp at the flywheel with some of the light mods that guy has. Give me a break.

Hey guys...

I promise if we can get a meet together, it will be a good time. Please trust me on that. The majority (more to come on that) are very cool guys who are just like you and me...they get off on making a truck fast.

Now granted, there are a few young pups that have a little different 'language' than the more mature folks, and will bench race all day, and talk an abundance of smack, and just handle this whole thing immaturely.

So this is my official request to please keep it cool over there. Tyler (the guy that thought he was racing a Lightning) is a great guy...if any of you met him, I promise you would like him. He's helped me with numerous tranny swaps, and multiple other projects. Our site is growing fast and like any public forum, we're going to get a variety of people. Please don't judge them over the internet based on what you see in a forum. Let's make this meet happen, have a fun day of racing and sharing a common interest, and just look at it as an opportunity to make some new friends.


All that being said, if you guys have any meets coming up, please let me know. I'd like to meet some of you guys and check out your rides.

My barely modded 2000 LIghtning that I sold a few years back would have been about 30 on that list, no nitrous, no huge boost levels .

Most of the trucks on our list start out as your basic Silverado - they don't start out with forced induction, so it takes more for them to get where Lightning's are from the factory.

Thats the whole point of my problem - MOst of what I saw there was talk about torque converters and gears and stuff that does little or nothing to get a truck down the track in 12 seconds

Even your list shows that most of the fast folks on that list have forced induction or nitrous or both. yet the original poster claimed his tune, cam and cutouts powered his truck to embarrassing a lightning 3 times. My BS detector went off big time.

I tried to find out if there is an Austin Area Lightning owner forum, but it all keeps leading me back to this site. If anyone could shoot me a link to an SVT site for the austin area that would be great. I want to set up a friendly evening meet for the weekends with some L's and whatever else I guess. Some of us on LS1Truck.com from the austin area don't have the luxury of having big events with badass trucks and cars like you DFW guys do.

I'm gonna try to be as friendly as possible on this thread, but people are going to take my replies probably as not friendly, but to each there own. I respect fast cars, lightnings, cobras, vettes, anything. But really the owner of the truck/car/bike is really the one that needs to earn the respect, not the vehicle.

The guy said he beat a Lightning, when in fact he didn't. He posted completely erroneous information. His race story is a sham. He got called out. He needs to own up to it. If his truck could actually beat a Lightning (like Yankee's), then no one would have said anything.

He did. It was a wannabe lightning that he got confused with, an honest mistake, and he admitted that.

Ok so $1500 in parts plus installation puts a silverado at 322 HP and 300 ftlbs of torque. Figure at least $1500 more to install the parts.

300 ft lbs of torque is not going to move 4400 lbs fast enough to keep up with a lightning. Typical stock lighting makes about 400 ftlbs torque stock.

Im sure you know that Torque is measured and HP is calculated.

If my memory serves ( havent been back to the thread in days ) he was claiming nearly 400 HP wasnt he ?

They evidently "fixed" the track, and some of the guys went out there a couple of weeks ago, and said its just as bad as before. They have a lake for there burnout box, and it basically bottle necks at the end like it used to do. It was scary enough doing when they only had the 1/8 mile going

A small loss of control on that track could very easily cost you your life. I like having a few feet on each side of the track for wiggle room. Temple is alot like street racing. Swerve and somebody could die...LOL.

Temple is a lot like street racing. last time I was there, their was like a bazillion SRT-4s that were revving the shit out of there cars before they even got to the staging lanes. I thought a couple of those cars had 8 speeds because of how many times they kept shifting going down the track.

well wish i woulda found this back when it was hot i coulda came over and stirred the pot, one thing i did notice some of you were saying about 100 horsepower or what ever, i didnt gain a 100 off of cam and bolt ons but i did gain 81rwhp over stock, and also about 98% of us are DIY's so the cost of labor is nothing. I just wanna know something else what was with the L guys coming to our forum and starting the BS flag, whoever did that, thats just immature, so what, if the guy said he outran an L it woulda went like 2-3 pages and drifted into thread history, now im sure there has been chevy guys come to your site and start bashing but i assure they werent from our site and im sure they really didnt know thier azz from a hole in the ground, i didnt come here to start the arguing again, just wanna see what im up against at this get together, btw i drive the flat black 5.3L .

I'm a newb also...let me be the first to say I hope I can make it may 1...I have a 06 SS, cam, LT's, meth inj, Radix, and N2O...I agree talking smack can be fun but i wont do it...I personally just enjoy racing and if you beat me I will shake your hand...The only competition I have is with my self...I set goals for my self and thats it.....I have yet to meet my goals and have recently discovered some problems that have been corrected and last weekend added the Nitrous for just in case :) so I feel I will be ready with some tweaking for the may 1st meet...

I believe we are all truck enthusiast and I leave it at that after all no matter what brand we are we all enjoy the same thing fast trucks.

Sure my 12.3 at 114 is fast for a stock cam/stall/geared motor. Hopefully I'll be running a little bit quicker by May 1. So I guess if you can outrun that then more power to you. As you can see I'm not afraid of losing. I just don't feel that my truck is gods gift to earth like most of the L's do. Any times from you 03lightning, or shiner? Or are you just going to be secretive

Most stock SS's run high 14's to low 15's..they are tanks..lol i'll admit that. As for mine i can only speculate..I have a set up for mid to low 12's with out the spray..
