View Full Version : 2800 stall too much?

My Gen 1 is mostly stock. Engine is fresh with a 5.0 cam, heads milled .030" E-fans... just the basics. I drive the truck daily, roughly 100 miles round trip to work, plus I occasionally do use it as a truck. I ordered an 11" 2600 stall triple lockup converter from Circle D, but a 2800 stall is what the big brown truck just dropped off. I thought that I was pushing it with the 2600 stall... Do you think that I'll be OK with the 2800, or is it too much for what I'm using the truck for? Input/opinions appreciated.

Thanks!
Steve

I'm surprised you didn't go bigger. I'm running a 3200 and sometimes wish I had a 3500 or so. I think you'll be perfectly fine with it.

Im also curious to see how you like the Circle D. They're a newer sponsor on our site and look to make a pretty nice converter. Hope it all works out for you.

I'll let you know. They've been an SV for a while on NLOC.net & are well respected there.
I'm also curious to see what difference it makes @ the track. I'm hoping to make the shootout, so hopefully you'll see it run there. I've got a mostly stock gen 1, so I'll be easy to pick out.. I'll be the slowest one there.:o

It locks up. So your good for daily driving. That is until you get on the track and try to hook up. Do the snuber trick. It will help a little, along with new sticky rubber.

And BTW. It's about time you give the truck a little TLC.

I'll do the snubber trick. I don't have any sticky tires though... maybe someone will have some I can borrow. Of course, then I have to start worrying about wheelhop... Don't want to break anything cause I'm outta $$$.

Hey Charlie... What stall are you running in your truck?

The same. 2800

You need to get the DS loop in there too.

There is a little difference between yours and his. His torque ramps up a lot sooner than yours does. Assuming your running stock cams.

Yah, I found the hardware, (just had to clean up the mess) so it'll be going on as well.

You will like the 2800, I have a 3200 and its perfectly fine as a DD, I might send it off and get it restalled at a 3600. It will definitely help with your 60ft times.

Cam - singular. :)

And no, it's not stock. I run the Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam.

Not sure what his graph looks like, but mine is below for comparisons sake.

His peek will not be as high as yours. But it will peek a lot sooner.

It's the reason the gen 1 can out run a Hemi with 15 more FP torque and 100 more HP. IMHO.
Weight may have something to do with it to. Not sure what the Dodge weighs.

Bit me on the cam's, thing. Not my fault cheby short changed you.

Steve, you need to stop coming in here. That little leak is costing more and more every day. And it's hard to stop. Trust me.
