I know that in my truck, Amsoil is my favorite. Back in the day, my buddy had an 89' F350, with the IDI 7.3 diesel. It had the Banks turbo kit on it, driven hard every day & he changed the oil every 10K with Amsoil. When we pulled the engine apart @ 500K it looked real clean inside... The Amsoil is good stuff.

Merc oil is good stuff, but totaly non-synthetic.I was lookin for a full synthetic oil.The Amsoil HP is a great 100% synthetic made for 2 stroke fuel injected O.B's.I noticed a diff. when i ran it.

Tiff, I am with you on this one.. I have seen WAY too many posts of folks that have run that crap and seen their engine blow.. obviously, this is my personal opinion and its not based on any particular scientific study.. just my observation over the years.. Amsoil does make good stuff but you have to order it from a dealer.. I use Mobil 1 in my personal vehicles and small engines.. but I dont think they make a 2 cycle version..

It was in my first engine when it blew, not directly blaming the oil but it did happen with in just a few days of putting it in there.

Mobil 1 is what goes in my vehicles now, and I trust Mercury Racing Oil for my outboards( I have a $20k mercury race engine on my bass boat and this is what I was told to run)

I run Royal Purple in my O.B. lower end just cause i changed the fluid in the lightning differential a few weeks back. The lightning took 4 bottles to fill it,i had 3 and ran back to Orileys to get some more and i had 1 1/2 left over.Starting reading the bottle and it said it was great for lower ends on O.B. 's so i put it in.I run Mobil 1 5W-30 in the lightning, and GTO says use ONLY 5W-30 Mobil 1 right on the engine filler.Any synthetic oil is good, non synthetic oils arent even on the same page as far as quality.O.B. marine motors are very expensive to repair and have carbon build-up problems which is why i wanted fully syn..My O.B. is a Yamaha.Yamalube is part synthetic and costs more than Amsoil full Syn.Go figure.
