blown plug = no thread

I gave a friend looking to get a 5.4 cyl head repaired. Or should he just go after a used head? Its a 97 5.4. Any and all info gladly appreciated.

Looks as if he would have to tap thru whats left in order to install the insert. What about all the shavings goin down onto the piston?

I've never done one but seen it done. Use lots of grease to catch the shavings.
