I decided to put her up for sale. There is 22,600 on odometer. The motor is a built JDM motor with less than 400 miles on it and about 10-15 passes. It has every mod known for these trucks and then some. Complete upgraded fuel system, front drag springs for better launches...even a nitrous system that is installed and ready to go but has not been used yet or tuned for it. This truck is set up to run tens safely. I am including all Lightning accessories I have with the deal...including four Bogart racing wheels with rubber. Slicks on rears...runners on front. This truck has a brand new silver bullet exhaust. JDM doesn't jerk around when they work on one of these trucks. Everything is done top notch. It also has a custom built NHRA legal roll bar....making ten second passes legal.

I am asking 27K or best offer. I will post pics and a list of all mods later.

I can't tell you how many times I have gone back and forth on this. I work so much I never get to take her out racing. It makes no sense to have a truck like this just sitting in the garage.

I am selling the custom built 30 foot race trailer also. that thing is decked out with everything and anything one needs to go racing. i had the ramps built special and side door set up to match the Lightning. I will be posting pics of that later also.

Let's see. Mine does 12.5 seconds so if I sold it for $17K it will only cost me $10K more to get to 10-seconds. That works out to $4,000 per second. Thats about what I spent getting from 13.5 to 12.5. As is often said, "Cheap at twice the price." If I were still racing, that would be a steal.:nana2 Good luck on the sale.

LOL....yeah it only cost me about 8 thousand to get her into the elevens. That last second cost me another 20-30 thousand ...:twitch:

John (Ohmsby) was lusting to get back into a Lightning on steroids, so he might be a buyer. You'll have to post pictures though since he doesn't seem to read words very well:icon_mrgreen:

Subconsciously I think I should keep it. That may be why I am jerking around so long with posting pics. I had planned on doing it this week but I have had one issue right after another. The plan is to get some pics posted and get it on Ebay and Craigs list early next week.

If I can't get a fair price for it, I will keep it. this truck is like buying a brand new lightning in 2003 only bullet proof and capable of running 10's. It is set up for bracking racing. I have a tune for it that will run the exact same times...pass after pass after pass. None of the dropping a tenth here and there because it gets hot. In Illinois I won the TT race and placed second in the quick ford class at the same time. it ran 12 passes in a row...11.15 every single pass. The truck is well worth the price I am asking for it.

Wish I had the $$ for this truck. I'd love to have a G1 and G2. Especialy one like that. I'll trade you a 90' F-250, 09' Taurus, 2 kids (one needs braces), a basset hound and a honda lawnmower that won't start. I hate to part with it but I'll also throw in a slightly used bowling ball. :icon_mrgreen: Best of luck whatever you decide Ron.

Listen to Beaudee. If there's any way you can keep it, do it. If it means driving it once or twice a week and gettin' on it, do it. I had an essentially stock L and I miss it.

Thank You sir. I spent the last couple weeks procrastinating this but I need to go ahead and see what happens. It is a little silly to have a truck like that sitting in a garage for two years gathering dust. I just listed it and am already regretting it...urrghhhh....

I think that might have done it. I've been looking to get back into a Lightning...what better excuse than to buy Ron's truck for a great price and still keep it in the TALON family. Ill be in contact, Ron. I'll be back in town at the middle-end of this month, I would love to talk numbers.

Ron,

What did you ever do with the 17" Centerlines?

03LightningRocks
09-03-2009, 09:40 PM
Hey fellers,

Blacklight, give me a PM when you are ready to talk. I really have not been trying to sell it very hard. I would rather just keep it than to give it away. It is paid off so it costs me nothing for it to sit in the garage. I still have it on Ebay if you want to see some pictures of it.

Thunderbolt, I don't remember having any centerline wheels. I have a set of Bogarts (fronts and rears) i use for the track. Maybe I did have some centerlines...LOL...I forgot the brand name of the wheels I had before the bogarts. I sold them to someone and can't remember who...I think Jason.

That's probably the truck I was thinking of. If I recall correctly he was running those tires on 17X9.5" wheels. I'm having a set of Matrix done in 17X11's. I already have the 17X7's.

That be the one! My 17X11's will have 6.5" BS. It should work-out well.

Ron's truck is a steal! There's a guy in Conroe Texas looking to sell his 10 sec L. to buy Ron's.

Well.....she has been sold. The guy is arranging pick up and payment. A feller up on the East coast bought her. A fellow drag racer so I am glad she is going to a fellow racer. This really does suck....even though I don't get to take her to the track these days...I feel like I just lost a girl friend. She sold for 23,500.00 which is a lot less than I should have sold her for but about as much as one can hope to get for a modded hot rod truck.

The motor alone was 15 K installed and only had about a 100 miles and maybe 20 passes on it. No kidding....the truck has more than 40K in mods. Oh well....I knew while I was dropping all that money in it I would never get it back. It was a bracket racing machine. I could make it run the same time within a couple thousandths, run after run all day long, no matter how the temps outside changed. The factory seats never even had an ass on it. I put wet okale seat covers on it right out of the hat. Heck...it still smells like a new truck inside.:vomit:

Crap....oh well...it just sat in the garage and looked purty.
