I've been looking around and this truck seems to be a good deal for the money. Terry I know you know Diesels. Wouldn't you say it's a good deal considering the condition and milage?

It is hard to trust the mileage on the old trucks. It was a common trickk to pull the ABS fuse and stop the odometer. I do like the 7.3 however. My old partner Jimmy is selling his 02 Excursion with 240k for 10 grand. It is a 4wd limited, 4" lift etc..

Most of the folks on here are from Dallas or northern suburbs. I'm on the SW side of Arlington and its 35 miles from me towards Weatherford.

I'm willing to make the drive and take a look tomorrow am but don't know much about diesels.

I appreciate that. The only thing I dislike about the truck is the seats and steering wheel have quite a bit of wear. Let me look a little closer in my area before I ask you to do that.

It sounds like a base model work truck with the vinyl floor. Base mirrors not the towing mirrors. The pics look clean. It is hard to tell with old diesels there is always a chance it spent its life hauling a crew of Mexicans hauling a landscaping trailer the last ten years. Usually with lariat and higher trim truck they were supervisors or personal vehicles.
I just look for leaks, smell the fluids, check acceleration and shifting. It is harder to hear trouble noises with a diesel engine. Labor for diesel repair is usually higher and harder to find. I have seen a dozen 7.3's over 300k without major issues, just harnesses, 2-3 injectors, boost actuator etc..

I just got back from looking at a Hunter green 99 F250. The owner bought it brand new in 1999. He has all the records of the vehicle. He's big on maintenance and performed all of it himself. The truck currently has 112,720 miles. The paint is in good shape. There are a few minor scratches and chips. The chips are primarily on the hood. It's nothing that touch up paint and polishing can't take care of. It runs very well and the tranny shifts great! He did mention he had to replace a couple of solinoids a while back. He told me has bought a 500.00 diagnostic scanner years back so he could trouble shoot any issues and do the repairs on his own. Hopefully he's throw that in on the deal. There was some difference between the 99 and 99.5 years. I think they had a huge dent in the down pipes or such. Nothing major though.

I saw a nice 2006 Chevy 5.3L V8 2wd with 102k miles on it, four door very clean looking.. for $9000 located in the Houston area on another site.. it does have a small dent in the lower rear quarter panel on the drivers side.. or are you dead set on a Ford diesel?

If you take a look at the head-on pic of the front end on the main link to the truck you'll notice the front bumper seems to be a tad tweeked. I questioned it and brought it to his attention. He was more than happy to help me out with my concerns. My first concern was the misaligned hood. He semi fixed it. From the new pics I will post you'll noticed he adjusted the driver's side. You can still see the passenger side is still sagging a tad. I believe that can be adjusted close enough to my liking. My other concern was the lower bumper being tweeked. Even with the new pics I requested it appears to be tweeked a tad. Do you fellas think it's anything I should be concerned with or am I knit picking? Your thoughts please.

Is that an 04 with a 6 liter? Be ready to have some expensive headaches out of the 6 liter power stroke. I would stick with a 7.3 or pre 07 Cummins. The 03-05 Cummins had some injector and leak issues but most were fixed under warrnty. The transmissions were the weak link in Dodges. Dodge, great motor but crappy wrapper.

Looks like an old oil field fleet fleet truck. I would check for dirt and corrosion where the pressure washer missed. I would look in and under the bed for a 5th wheel hitch. It looks like a polished turd. Yes, I have been drinking....

lol! The truck was used for serveying. No fifth wheel and supposedly no towing period. I will check underneith for a possible fifth under the bed liner. It sounds great! I would have test drove it this evening except I'm impaired like you.

Looks like a much better deal than the 6.0 truck, IMHO. I too would recommend the 7.3 over the 6.0. Not as much power (at least stock), but much better durability. Oh, but I've been drinking, too.

Well Terry was right. I got a much better look at it today and it is a polished turd. You can definitely tell it was a service vehicle. I'm going to stop looking at more trucks and buy the green as soon as the funds arrive. Hopefully that will be today.

On the other hand, if you don't plan to mod it just get the extended warranty and enjoy your new head gaskets in a year or two!
