I just bought some replacement speakers for my trcuk and it took me all of about 1-1.5 hour to install and replace all 4! Everything comes off really easy and the replacement is a snap. I put in 4 Kenwood 3-way 5x7s, and the sound is a great improvement over the crap speakers we get with these trucks. All I need now is the subwoofers/amp to add the thump and I'm good!

Bottom line is the replacement is super easy. Don't waste your money paying someone to do the job; use it for other mods!

Tom,

You going to be around on Thursday for the meet? I would like to hear them! How much did all 4 set you back? Are you running the speakers off the stock head unit or do you have an amp?

I'm planning on being there Thursday. The sound is clearer and they handle more power than the stock speakers (obviously). I've got the DVD player in the truck, and these are being run off of the A/V receiver, which has a built-in amp (I believe 25Wx4 channels). It pushed the stock speakers a little too much, and these seem to be taking it very well.

I got these speakers at Best Buy for $75/pair. Not bad considering most other places have 5x7/6x8 speakers for $100+ per pair.

I'll see you Thursday!

Ford is using better speakers in the L from '02+. My 02 stereo sounded alot better than my 99 did.

I ended up replacing the 5x7's in the 99 with Pioneer 3 ways, it made a enormous difference...

That's what I put in, 6x8 Pioneer 3-ways. And a Pioneer head unit. What a difference!

One screw under the panel that runs up the B pillar on the door (I think that is what you call it) and one under the door handle shroud. Remove the screws and pull up. Disconnect the window, mirror and dorr lock plugs and the door panel is off!

I have got 2 sets of 6.5 Focal Speakers in shipping. (Ebay) Anyone familiar with very high end audio knows the name Focal. 2 sets shipped 228.00! I had 2 sets in my '98 Z28 and paid about 575.00 a few years ago! Ebay has some incredible deals on audio. jw
