Truck was almost stolen last night

Like the tile says I went out today and I tried to open the truck and I noticed someone had hit the door. There was a dent like someone had hit it with a door I tried to put the key in thats when I noticed someone took a screwdriver and tried to break my door lock. Man was I pissed I have lived there for two years now and not a single problem until now. I need a good alarm anyone know where I may get a good price on one?

The best cheap set up.

Pull the fuel pump fuse. (no start)
Turn the wheels all the way to the left or right. (makes it hard to tow)
Put a club on it. (Keeps the amateurs from even starting to brake in)

You was hit by amateurs. These things will stop the amateurs.

Nothing will stop a pro from getting it.

Get low jack for them. At least you will get most of it back.

What the thieves don't understand is that you can't just steal one of our trucks by driving off in it. Unless you swap both the ECU and instrument cluster with a matching pair the PATS key system won't allow the truck to start. The only Lightnings I heard of that were stolen were either towed off, spare key was found in the truck, or the PATS system was turned off in the tune. Sometimes remote start systems are installed with an extra key inside the steering column. This is a really boneheaded method that could give a would be thief a key to operate your truck, don't ever let an installer talk you into using this method. But other than that, it's next to impossible to defeat the PATS system.

I guess that doesn't stop them from tearing up everything trying though.

They probably just wanted to steal stuff from the truck. 95% of break ins are for pawn worthy possessions, iPod, cell phone, ID, stereo. Only 5% of them are after the truck. Most of the Lightnings stolen from members has been with a slick rig or repo truck. I haven't heard of any criminals succeed in just breaking over the ignition on a Ford with PATS. Of course there is always the theory that nothing is impossible.
