i probably noticed it a couple years ago. (appears to me) its cracked all the way through. the shiney thing was my key turned sideways for size reference

Looks like the infamous door-crack plaguing these trucks. My '02 L, the parents '01 Ext.-Cab Lariat and '05 S-Crew don't have this issue.

There are alot of others that have this issue with their doors, though.

never heard of this. we've got one of these models at work. i'll look at it tomorrow. must be from closing it. too much pressure at the top of the door against the cab? a weak point obviously.

I had this on my 2000. Its a pretty widespread problem and you will see it on most trucks that get any use.

I had to bitch a little, but ultimately I got Ford to fix it for free.

I have that at the rear fenders below the tailgate. Both sides. :(
