In the next couple of weeks I will be in need of one. If someone in the north Dallas area has one I may borrow that will save me the effort of making one, having a blower powder coated.
Thanks,
Mike

Can you get the bearings out of the case? I heard you cant powder coat because you cant get all the bearings and seals out of the unit without Eaton specialty tools...
Most powder coat goes through sand blasting and 400f ovens.

I have done quite a bit of research & I am confident I can get them out of the case, it may not be graceful but they will come out. The 400deg. temp is not going to change the heat treatment of the bearing. What could be affected would be the grease & a good high temp grease will support 500deg of more, Red Line CV-2 is one example. Thus you could clean & repack after but it is most likely a good idea to replace them. The rotors are spinning at 10K or greater RPM & that will make a one hell of allot of aluminium shavings VERY quickly!
There is a wealth of information on the net as Eaton has been making these blowers for quite some time for various vehicles.
Thanks,
Mike

I thought there were some teflon cages in the bearings.

I bet you are correct as the bearing will need to be sealed in order for the lubricant to stay in the bearing. I would have to think that bearing would get near 400deg under "normal" operation. My gut tells me they will withstand the oven but I will not be chancing it & they will be replaced. Why save a few dollars only to blow a complete engine when all hell breaks loose in the case as the bearings disintegrate...

I'd just paint it, the coating will be worth more than the blower. Buy a Whipple instead:D

Well considering I have a friend with a powder coating business the cost will be virtually nothing. I hear ya on the Whipple! :tu: Would love to have one but this ported blower will have to do for now.
