That one would be pretty hard to spot.

That is by far the most professional one I have seen. I wouldn't have spotted it and I habitually look for skimmers when I swipe my CC.

All the ones I have read about use some sort of camera. The skimmer can only get the card details, but not the pin. I always cover my hand and try to keep it as still as possible when entering my pin.

I actually had a young girl at best buy look at me and say "you afraid I'm going to steal your pin?" I just looked at her and took my merchandise.

Never use debit cards and 99.9% of the time use Bank ATM

I check my accounts a couple times a week typically just to keep track of transactions

Most of the skimmers are at remote locations or are on independent ATMs like you find in 7-11

I found an Bank of America ATM the other day that was posted everywhere that its only open 7 am - 7 pm - that was an ATM at the Bank itself in the drive through and at the front of the branch - Imagine how bad the crime has to be before the bank turns OFF the ATM after dark

Were you in Duncanville?
I banked there when I had business in town, the drive thru ATM was a regular spot for hold ups, they went in the bank a time or two:rolleyes:

I'm not sure what the distribution looks like, but a quick google shows plenty of stories where the bank ATMs are rigged:

Well being in the electronic manufacturing business for about 3 decades... all I can say is that this was designed and built by unemployed silicon valley type engineers.

This is a very professionally designed and built device. NRE to design and tool the boards, plastic moldings, screen printed/stamped braille decals is many $K.
That doesn't even include the capital equipment required to assemble /manufacture the assembly.
This wasn't built in anyone's garage.

But someone could go to ~3 sub-cons and manufacture all the parts in the valley or Richardson for that matter and build it.

No way I would have detected it.

I think I'm going to yank on the reader every time I use an ATM now...
