NMorning to all!! Well guys my 02 Harley spit a plug out two weeks ago, but the threads seem to be fine as i inserted a new plug it tightened up just fine. I was just wondering if anybody out there knew how to use these Time-Sert kits?!.. I would gladly appreciate the help! Thanks!!

To install a tine sert properly you have to pull the head. You need to be able to remove the shavings and see how far the insert and reamer are into the chamber. They are designed to be installed by a machine shop on a bench.

thanks guys! I never taken off a head before is it difficult to do and put back on?

On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 9.
You are talking about a complete motor front and top end dis-assembly and re-timing the cams/chains.

Funny Dana, I was thinking the same thing! I would call it a 9.5 or a 10. The chains are tensioned by oil pressure and there is a procedure where you use a paperclip to hold something in place.........it has been a long time ago and I don't remember! lol

WOW!!! in that case id rather do it with the heads on.. Dang didnt think it seemed so difficult but ill just leave to the Perfessionals! Thanks for all the input guys!:tu:

Okay, thanks, I originally thought about posting it is a 10, but then I remembered rebuilding the Webers on the Pcar, there is ~100 tiny parts in each one.
The L does require a paper clip.;)
