So much for those high speed late night runs on the tollway, should this ever makes its way over here. :flaming:

Not required, GPS is in your vehicle, very easy to calculate and issue speeding tickets from space with GPS.

maybe in the future - still need to have 2 way communication from the car and tie the GPS to a driver
The system - called “SpeedSpike” - figures your average speed between two points, captures an image of your license plate and reports you if you’re going faster than the law allows. Oh, and if you’re hoping Great Britain’s notoriously gray weather will save you, you’re out of luck; the system works even when it’s cloudy or dark

Also pretty easy, as cars have blue tooth now, a chip in your drivers license connects the car to the driver and your cell phones GPS. So someone stole your car, license, and cell phone? Okay maybe, but with all the cameras at intersections and highways, easy to document a picture of you.
OT: I got another Patent awarded this week.

Garmin locked up my Kenwood head unit from space. I thought that was pretty sneaky. I think they are pulling NAV data from units secretly.
They published a fix to unfreeze your unit but would not comment on how they locked it up. Only admitting that they do communicate with GPS devices through the sat network.
OnStar shutting your car off also creeps me out...:tex

Im confused
If you are in range of a ground camera you would be in range of ground radar. so WHY waste Sat time ?

"Who's your daddy? is an expression that is commonly used as a boastful claim of dominance over the intended listener"
Okay, point taken, I was being boastful.
Nerd is more fitting.

Didn't mean it that way at all. I meant it as in I'd like to be your heir. My congrats were sincere, and I'm glad you let us know. You are rightfully proud, as it is quite an accomplishment.

You can leave the basketball and bowling trophies to somebody else. Really, it's OK, I can live without them. ;)

why do they have to tie the driver to the car?- no different than a red light camera ticket or blown toll- they bill the registered owner.
I can see it in the future "This is your On Star adviser and you have been clocked at 80 in a 55 MPH Zone- we will bill the credit card on record"

I misspoke
They have to get some ID number from the car. You are right doesnt have to be the driver.
I also misread the article - it uses 2 cameras on the ground to get the plate
Which still makes me wonder - Why do you need the satellite ?

It appears that the GPS will synch the cameras' clocks. I agree, it would be easier to just mount radar cameras on telephone poles.
