Just another random guess with the sale of the nice bed cover and the paint, maybe a bed style change from the step side.

Hmmmm!! That maybe a pretty good guess. I'd like to see that. Not just a fleet side bed though. Smooth out the steps so it flows better.

Ding, ding, ding...one of the less subtle changes; a total of 16 separate pieces to paint (not including the cab and bed). http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif

If I count the trim/plastic parts the outside, I get 18 minus the 2 grills in your case=16.:D

I am looking forward to seeing the changes.
Prior to owning an L Go Rilla and I would run each other on 380 from time to time. I had a black C-4 that really was not that quick. I did not know Dennis and we would occasionally meet on the road and run a little.
I would always tell everyone about the Go-rilla truck that gave me fits
It will be fun to see the transformation I have known the truck for some time

Got to do an exhaust change before the last piece of trim goes on and I know what I want to do there, but it is pretty close to the finished look I wanted. Plan on Line-X treatment for the bed. Color is metallic(a) black. All sparkly in the sun and stuff.

For the record...my oldest son thinks I messed up by putting the Styleside bed on, but when I bought the truck 11 years ago, the two things I thought Ford missed on was the bed and the 40/60 bench seat. Now the truck looks like I think it should have from the factory.
And now you know... the rest of the story.

Mirrors are Street Scenes directional. Regarding the bed change and mirrors et al; I know the Lightning purists out there aren't going to like it, but that's OK. Not really concerned if folks know it is a Lightning anyway. I also would never have done this if I was planning on selling it some day, which I'm not. :d

I like the mirrors.. since they are directional, any issues wiring them up?
I have the grills that were installed a little while back, I like em.. might I suggest painting the shiny stuff behind them black?
I would like to see it in regard to the bed too.. I am just so used to the flareside that it just different and I am not used to it..

Can't say I'm sold on the bed, but I always liked the flareside. I never had a smooth flanked truck until I got the SD.
Either way, it looks like really nicely done work, so :tu: for keeping the 'Rilla alive and freshened up.

Here's a few more. One is Terry's from SVT OnTrack 2002-TMS), the other unknown (SVT OnTrack event 2000-Cresson). The second is the Checkmate cover. I like the fit of it but I've heard the finish is less than desirable.

The one on Terry's truck is a Retrax roll top that I later bought from him. I have some better pics of that. The Checkmate name isn't ringing any bells for me, but from what I can tell of that truck it looks the same as my first lid (just different color). The finish on mine was good. Also, i just remembered that I sold that lid to someone on the TALON board. It was a guy who lived in the Silvercreek addition of Desoto and he was going to put it on a regular F150, but he found it off our for sale section.

BTW, a quick search on good ole' Al's web indicates the Slim Top is out of production and no longer available.
