Maf is different

99 - 2000 had 80 mm and later was 90 if memory serves - the newer trucks had diff programming to accommodate the MAF

the gears changed in 2001 as well to 3.73 I think

headlights - tail lights - the layout of dash changed
rear springs changed in 2003 I think
The package bin behind the seat disappeared at some point
the remote unlock was changed with better antenna
the run style changed a few times

the size of the lugs was different as we discussed

I set up a web page about lightnings a long time ago - I think the FAQ covers this ... see my sig for link

Also the fog lights and grills changed in 01 I think

Ooo, fun.

Dont forget that 99's had no temp/compass display up top. 99's also had small cubby to the lower right of the steering wheel that 2000 and up did not have. Good place for a wallet or iPod.

What's weird is my '04 had the cubby hole too, but I seen another '04 that didn't have it. Was this just something random that they threw in there when they had them available?

IMO, the MAF will work with stock tuning and up to a 4 lb lower, A/F numbers safe on my 2000.
Has your 99 been re-flashed to 2000/CUX2, I know some that were by the dealers.

Intercooler been upgraded?
Lower intake changed, bolt pattern on the blower also changed.
Drive shaft went from Fe to Al.
Water pump changed.

The 99's were a step child built on the XL base truck platform. 00-up they were built on XLT so they has compasss, painted mirrors caps etc. In 01 they got 90mm and new fogs, head, tails, grills, wheels,3:73's, revised IC etc... In 00 they got 14mm wheel studs over the 12m in 99.

Will the 90mm maf just bolt on terry, with no other mods?

Will the 90mm maf just bolt on terry, with no other mods? You just need a change in the tune.

You just need a change in the tune.

Again, you don't need to change the tune. According to my data, not just opinion.

Ok let's all get together on if I would have to tune.

I thought he was upgrading to a 90mm MAF. My bad lol. Wait a sec. He is upgrading from a 80mm to a 90mm. That will require a change in the tune for the bigger MAF = more air flow....am I wrong? I know Terry had to change my tune when I upgraded to the SCT 90mm. This is a quote from Doug on the 1st post..."Maf is different 99 - 2000 had 80 mm and later was 90 if memory serves - the newer trucks had diff programming to accommodate the MAF"

I went from 80mm MAF to 90mm without a tune for a while. I did eventually get a tune, but The Kressler is right, for just street use, you won't need a change in the tune. But you also won't notice any change in performance (as measured by the ass-o-meter).

I've got a Mafia extender to get a little more out of the 80mm so you don't peg MAF counts.

The key is getting it off the side of my air box- damn double sided tape wasn't cutting it so a little dab of Liquid Nails.......:nono:
