Personally, I think lasers are Hollywood. They do not illuminate a target so you don't know what you are shooting at. I'd rather have a good light. I have never acquired a conventional sight picture when shooting defensively. It is all instinct with possibly a glimpse of front post in the fight.

I am just saying a laser doesn't light up your target at night. Regardless of age. A major requirement of shooting things at night is knowing what/who they are. That is a job for a flashlight.

Agreed - But Im not expecting a laser to do that

What Im expecting it to do is help me hit what Ive decided to shoot

Getting to the point of deciding to shoot is another whole ball of wax ...

With eyes over 40 Ive found that if I have to do more than point and shoot - its MUCH easier for me to see the dot and hit the dot than to focus on the sights and the target. These old eyes dont do that so well anymore ..

They are fun, I have two M6's the xenon version of that light. They have never left the safe or seen fire. It would be cool to use at night though. It is hard to find a place to do tactical shooting/training at night.

I think the sweetest setup is a Sure Fire fore end on a shotgun. That makes for a nasty welcome party to night time invaders.

Yep, this thread motivated me to break out the M6. Now I can paint a beam on a fool! Then my tracers can draw a line right to them!

I run a GG&G mount for tac lights on my entry rifle. It works with the index finger.

That little Surefire piece for the shotgun aint cheap either.. I looked at it and have a remote activated light setup for my shotgun.. very similar, just cheaper but the Surefire is the cadillac of setups.

There is a used one like new in Dallas for 220. It didn't fit the Nelli though it was for an 870. On AR15.com. A new Halogen fore end is 288, the LED gets up near 400.
It looks like 290 is the MAP for SureFire...
