today i raced a chrysler srt-8! mods to my 01L: 4lb lower, sct tune, bassani catback! srt-8 mods: STOCK!

first we raced from a 25 roll, i had him all the way up to 65 then he slowly passed me! Next we raced at a stop light, im reved up to 1200 rpms light shows green and i hit it! I shut it down at 85 mph (because i was approaching cars) i was ahead of him about a car length and a half! im real pleased how i took him at a dead stop, BUT IM SO FREAKING AGGRAVATED THAT HE TOOK ME FROM A ROLL! should he of passed me on the roll racing? also im kinda shocked i took him so easily from a dead stop! i figured he would have beat me since hes pushing more horse and his car is lighter than my truck! but once again im pissed lol that he passed me at 65 on the roll race! i need to do something else to my truck so that this doesnt happen again lol. like stated above only mods are 4lb lower, tune, and catback! what should i do next?????? thx guys!!!!!

The results you got were what I would have expected.. these trucks are low end torque demons.. we can pull from a stop easily most vehicles, not all but most.. on a roll, you are fighting a lot more weight and aerodynamics, our trucks are bricks in the air..

As Dana said, aerodynamics are our enemy. The drag increases exponentially as speed increases (IE: double the speed might quadruple the drag).

You could always go up to a 6 lb pulley and maybe a ram air setup (hood intake to avoid road heat) to add HP and increase cool airflow at higher speeds.

Keep in mind that these trucks are not really designed to outrun light, aerodynamic cars at top speed. Plowing the beast through the air at 100+ with more and more boost eventually can result in a blown motor. What's more fun is to win a 0-60 race while towing a boat and trailer!:d

6lb pulley and a 15-35hp NOS shot to beat the heat.......:tu:

SRT-8 is not a light car, either... 4300lbs easily with driver. Lighter than the L, but not by a lot. More aerodynamic... yes, but at 65mph it isn't a big deal. I'm a little surprised he pulled you at 65, now that I think about it more. Over 85, after you've shifted into 3rd... ok, I can understand that.

I had a 300C SRT-8 for over a year, and it was a great car. Easily a high-12 sec car with just a tune and a drop-in air filter. Your L probably runs the same in the 1/4 mile with the mods you have, but just like the stoplight race... you would be out ahead of him the entire time, and he'd be reeling you in on the top-end.

I've played with one on the tollway and did okay. Not sure about your truck but mine at 25mph is a dog because it doesn't hit first. I would hate for it to actually hit first anways for fear that the trans would head south. I had trouble keeping up with a Caddy on a roll at that speed.

At 20 it'll hit first hard and then comes the tire spin. I try not to because I've read too many posts where the trans got damaged like this.

I had my wife with me when a guy here in Frisco pulled next to me in a Z06 (405HP). He looked like he wanted to play and we were just about to hit 20mph... nailed it and caught the dude of guard. He gave us the go to hell look and left me in the dust... up to about 60 it was fun.
