$500 fine recently in Frisco for trapping critters without a license. No penalty for shooting them on your property. Kind of a Castle Amendment for critters so to speak.

Nothing like my Gamo Varmint rifle (1250 fps), but 450 fps isn't bad for a CO2 pistol.

We have a Gamo Whisper.. the wife took out over 30 chipmunks in the backyard in Erie.. she didnt like them tearing up the yard.. so she thinned out the herd a bit..

Will a .177 at 450 FPS penetrate a 'dillo's armor?

I shot a dillo 6 times with my 22 Ruger single six when I was a kid. All 6 rds skipped off the shell at an angle. The 357 bored its way through though.

Probably requires a head shot which shouldn't be that difficult up close.

Close encounter with an armadillo at 5AM. Light and sight work nicely, but not enough power to seriously do damage IMO. After being hit at about 10 paces from a head-on position, the critter jumped about two feet in the air and traveled across the lot to the woods. No blood trail (like a .177 pellet will leave one anyway), but a very light projectile at 450 FPS just won't cut it. Can't say for sure that he wasn't hurt, but I have nothing to show.

Probably won't survive the trauma caused during his next visit.

Well sadly my >90 year old neighbor the pellet king for killing all the local varmints died this week.:icon_sad:
Almost everyday you could hear him shooting pellets, protecting his garden.
So I may have to take over the responsibility for the neighborhood. Is this something you do when you get old?;)

Donnie sent me a 22 cal Gamo Whisper for a house warming gift. We'll see how it works on our feline infestation:tu:.

Here is a good video on ammo. I chose the 22 for the extra oomph.:evil

.177 at 450 FPS :nono: not enough for an armored critter. And head shots in the dark on a moving target are tough. Methinks more power :tu:. Who was it, Robert Ruark, African PH, who said "Use enough gun!"

I think so- my Dad is 70 something and just bought a refurbished Benjamin 22 cal pellet gun to shoot squirrels in his back yard.

Well since I have a 30 foot pecan tree in my backyard, I have lots of those targets and probably more now that my neighbor is gone.:icon_sad:
They run along a brick edge about 4 ft off the ground on the side of the garage, almost like a carnival shooting game.
