Well, we were cruising on our way home from LFest when the truck started making a funny sound. It just felt funny.. so I pulled over at what was supposed to be a visitor center but it was closed so got into a Love's truck stop. Its apparent that my front driver side wheel bearing has given out. So we limped to a "cough cough" hotel and checked in for the evening. Sent email to local Ford dealer service department for a call early in the morning. Just not sure what else to do at this point.
If anyone has any other suggestions let me know..

Ouch... Wish you were closer. Close enough to get a trailer to bring you home, or meet you with some tools to replace the bearings. Good luck!

Well, the rotor and spindle are history and have to be replaced. The bad part is that those parts dont exist in OKC:mad: They have to be sent up from DFW. So we will be out of OKC tomorrow.. with two different front rotors that will have to be fixed later.. but at least we will be home.

Wow, good thing you stopped. Sounds like it could have locked up or come apart on you, probably in the middle of nowhere if your luck is like mine.
Glad you'll be back on the road soon, safe travels!

Yeah I bet the dealer hit you hard for an OEM spindle and rotor. Still the best bargain in the world compared to what could have happened if you just turned the radio up to drown out the noise :eek2:
Glad you made it home safe, even if a little late and with a thinner wallet!

Thanks guys.. yep, the stealership took me to the cleaners.. but it is better than the alternative of losing a wheel at 70 mph on the freeway. :eek2:
now that would have been really painful.
Or I guess I could have had it towed to Pep Boys.
