I use my iPad for pretty much everything I do (ok 60% I still use my desk top and laptop). To me it is so much easier for e-mail, web browsing, etc. So the builder who made my gauge pods and radio bezel is now making me a iPad radio bezel for my Lightning. SCT hasn't released it on their site yet, but they are making tuning software and flashes for the iPad/iPhone so by the time my truck gets put back together (if ever) they should have the software released

Here are a few mock up pics of the design. There will need to be a hole or a button to use the home button. The iPad also has a screen lock so it will remain horizontal after the home button pushed. I wont need am/fm radio since I have Pandora and the iPod

There will need to be some type of strap or velcro to hold snug and in place, but to make it easy for removal also

I think it will be. Clean, easy to remove if needed, cheaper than most double din's and does everything a double din does and more. plus I like the large screen for tuning, data logging and diagnostics.

I will have to add a separate EQ to run the system, but that isn't a big deal to me

Really cool, especially when you consider all the apps you could possibly run with the accelerometers.

Pretty cool, I've always thought about mounting a small PC or laptop under my seat or in the console with a touch screen interface and a wireless mouse to control it. You can even get a USB FM tuner to have the car radio experience.

The ipad is really a great idea since it's designed to be mobile (good touch screen keyboard, fast boot up) and since you're keeping it removable, it will help prevent theft.

I had an app on my iphone to use the accellerometers for calculating g forces, 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. Run that and the programming software and you'd have a pretty nice setup....
