Are there really this many totally original 60s and 70s cars with low mileage left.
Hard to believe to me, selling at 100s of $K, I guess the economy has brought them out, and they are selling, haven't seen so many cars >$100K ever when watching this show. Much different than the past few years, it is pretty amazing, haven't seen a car less than $100K in the past hour.

Okay so someone just paid $450K for a blue 2012 Mustang.
I am very , we will be able to purchase one in the same color and trim level in 2013. for ~1/10th the price, again

yes, but I have seen Richard Childress smartly spend well over $1M in the past 2 days, don't know how much he sold, but know he did sell some too. This must be the best year BJ has had in a while.

+1, there have been some reasonable purchases but some really over the top as well. maybe my sense of money just aint right. :(

didnt see Saturday

Sunday was tame compared to your descriptions ..

I saw quite a few cars sell for less than they would have cost to rebuild

Yeah, I watched a little on Sunday too, and I was about ready to call in on a couple of them. Totally different, Saturday was pure insanity. Too much ego and testosterone in the VIP boxes.

a few years ago, before the economy went bad, the prices were even higher. i saw a low mileage hemi cuda go for $500k one year. some things weren't bothered by the economy though. carol shelby's personal cobra went for 5.5 million.

my cousin johnny martin, and the owner of the car bruce milyard, sold the car he built at barrett-jackson tonight for $365,000. it was a great-eight car in the ridler competition at the detroit autorama. here's a vette forum thread about it.

There were a ton of crazy prices on vettes last night. Even the resto-mods were bringing big money.

There are usually a handful of new cars lightly modded sold for charity purposes. yes, you could buy a new one cheaper but it is the cause I guess...

Once you start to follow BJ you will see the same cars cycle through year after year. In 2005 we took a cusotmer's '72 427 vette out there and sold it for 68k. The next year that buyer ran it through BJ for 48k. I think 06-09 were dark years for BJ. Some folks just enjoy the car for a year or two and trade it for another classic.

Although I would never have said the '62's were my favorite, that car is stunning. :tu:

Who is the Italian guy in the VIP box with his dog and grand kids that buys...seems like everything, every year?
