The other day I got pulled over because my window tint was too dark it was at 20% instead of the legal 25%. I had forgoten my drivers licence at home too I gave him my info and found me but he still gave me a citation for not having it on me. So I ask when i go to court and I show them my drivers licence it will be dismissed right he said no it was not because you dont have one he said, its because you dont have it on you. Is this true if it is its a BS law to make money.

I am guessing that it will depend on the mood of the judge that day.. good mood and good judge = dismissed..

Don't know about it being dismissed either but I do believe Tx law states you must carry ID at all times.

Not sure about the ID part, but I do believe that if you are opperating a MV you are by law required to produce a valid DL. OHP gave me a written warning the (I'm not even kidding about this) ONE TIME I did not have my lic. with me! So, like dboat says...hope your judge has a good bm that morning....

Bingo. Just like liability insurance. Not only are you required to have it, but must be able to present it on demand.

I have had no driver liscense tickets before and as long as it wasn't expired the day I received the ticket the judge has always dismissed the tickets, same with no insurance tickets, so chances you will be ok :)

I agree (see my earlier post) but then again, you get a judge that had a terrible morning, for whatever reason, and decides he/she is going to take it out on everyone in court that day.. well.. you might not get the outcome you want.

DanaYou will know you're finished when the Judge arrives saying "Everybody gonna do time today"

Alot depends o the judge, and the wording of the ticket. If it's failure to display dl then you'll probably pay the ticket. If its no drivers license it will be dismissed when you show them you had a valid license. Also depends on the county the ticket was in.

He got a ticket for no TDL, he presented the TDL in court to show he had one but just didnt have it with him. I think a little lattitude is ok in these cases.

If I understood his posts correctly I think he got two tickets, one for illegal window tint and the second for fail to display DL, which is different from no DL. Fail to display means you have a valid DL issued to you, but aren't carrying it while driving. I also believe he indicated he was guilty on both violations.
Not begrudging him getting a pass for whatever reason(s), but that did make me curious about the reasoning for your comment.

my comment was limited to the tdl issue. I didnt think about the window tint at all. I would be borderline on that one. While I like dark tint, I also know what the legal limits are and adhere to them. On the tdl, I dont think its a huge issue if you accidentally leave it at home and then come to court with it. it happens.
What are your thoughts on this one?

Happy for him that he got a pass, but I'd have to differ on the sentiment that "that's the way it should be" when he admitted guilt on both charges. Plenty of laws that I disagree with, but if I choose to violate them then I figure I forfeit my right to whine if I get caught.

I understand your point of view on that one.
