2001Lightning

I acquired a 2001 Lightning about 3 years ago. The motor was blown. I had the motor pulled out and the heads machined but since then it pretty much has just been sitting for 3 years due to money troubles. I am no mechanic, but at this point I assume I would be better off getting a new motor. I called some places but then was told they didn't have quality motors. I really have no idea what to do with it. I was hoping that on here I might be able to get some suggestions on a place I can get a good rebuilt motor at a decent price. Or even if someone wants to buy it as is, I am open to offers. I probably won't ever modify it or race it, but I really need to either get it running or let it go. Any advice would be welcome.

So all you need is a short block then since you have heads right?

I don't know. If I get a short block won't I have to have a machine shop or someone put the motor back together? And it has been sitting for 3 years and the motor has rusted. I thought I might be better off just getting a different motor that is ready to drop in. I really don't have the knowledge to know what all it needs which is why I was leaning toward a different motor.

In the past year or so you could get a Lighting short block for $2700-2900, depending on who you ordered it from. m-6009-c54c4

Might try calling as it is not in their parts search. http://www.tousleyfordparts.com
