I picked up the Lightning Wednseday from the Ford Dealership in Waco.
Repairs: Salvaged rear axle housing from another L, Salvaged right rear leaf spring and hanger.
They took my original gears and other rear axle parts and put into the salvaged housing.
The paint work looked well done, and after driving the truck I detected no odd sounds or performance issues.
I have filed an Inherent Diminished Value claim on Farmers over this and they are coming Wednesday to inspect it.
I think a pristine 2002 98K mile L that has never been tuned, pullied or wrecked is hard to find. I hope to get the difference from retail to wholesale!

Farmers adjuster looked the Lightning over this morning in Waco!
I had it polished up this weekend and my son washed it yesterday to have it look as good as possible. The facts of my diminished value claim case are straight forward.
Only 4,726 were produced in 2002 out of that only 1,130 were True Blue
and my particular L #2602 is as stock as the day it rolled off the assembly line. I should hear from them soon on the offer!

Good to hear it is back together. I'm sure your son has been missing it. Good luck with the DV claim. Don't let Farmers off easy.

Have you done some research to see what your truck might be worth? Comb NLOC, Auto Trader, etc to get a ballpark for an unwrecked one.

I am taking the attitude since the truck has been repaired and looks good again, that if it was a retail piece before the wreck, and now I have to disclose it has been hit, and has a salvaged Rear Axle housing and leaf Spring as well as paint work, it probably gets wholesale today? The difference can be substantial! For example: Nada guides retail is $13,900.00 average trade in $9,725. or $4,175 difference. I am sure there will be some negotiating that will take place. I will see what happens and report in!

Just stack up your facts like True Blue was a one year run and the lowest production run of any Lightning. I think only 1130 were made...?

Farmers initial offer was 1600.00, yesterday they were at 2,750.00!! The fact on Cars.com there are only 3 true blue Ls for sale in the entire USA helps my cause. Farmers looks at availability and rareness in this decision and 2 of the 3 for sale are 19K, 16K respectively the cheapest is 13K and looks like crap fom the pictures.
I have to say Farmers has been easy to work with on this claim and no I dont work for them! LOL

Thanks Garret! I am pleased, I posted this information hoping it helps another member someday. The L is a rare truck and it seemed fairly easy to make a strong case why they should pay up on it.
For the record if the accident is your fault the insurance company will not pay for diminshed value.
