should cordless phones last? its not the batteries, because I wont buy them with proprietary batteries anymore, if they are rechargeable AA or AAA forget it.. my phones are 3-4 yrs old.. is that about the lifespan anymore?

With the past couple of phones I have bought, I'm lucky to get a year out of them. And i can usually replace the phone cheaper than I can buy replacement batteries.

Wow my Panasonic 5.8GHZ digital it just at 10yrs old with no issues. The handsets get lost for periods at a time (3 teenagers) and still have a charge.

Must have got a good set.

Guess it must be that Panasonic is good, we have a Panasonic 900Mhz cordless that must be >10 years old, never purchased a battery.

Not just Panasonic. I've got a Uniden 2.4 GHZ that's 10+ years old and still on the original battery.
