please help

my truck threw a code! IAC (idle air control) when truck is in park it idles high then low high then low.....etc.... also when i punch it (WOT) truck misses a bit then takes off..... was wondering if IAC could effect that also. thx guys ps. i thought maybe it was my tune but even when i set my comp. to factory it still does it....... terry did my tune couple years ago. great guy.....

Sounds like a possible sticky or clogged IAC. You can pull it and hose it with carb cleaner or tap it a few times. The rest of it could be a loose vac line or melted hose. At the age these trucks are making now the PCV hoses, the rubber elbow off the bottom of the lower intake etc can be rotted. The hoses under the inlet elbow can be falling out. The MAF element can have oil and residue from years of running a K&N. It is easy to spray clean the MAF, filter etc...

Other maintenance items could be fuel filter and plug change.
