Well Mark and I got the new shackles on and I am not as impressed as I thought I would be. When you look at my old 2 inch shackles side by side with the JL 3 inch they are a full inch longer on the mounting holes. I took measurements before and after and the rear only came down about 1/2 to 2/3 of an inch. I was thinking it might be more drastic for no good reason. These are the longest shackles out there so for those wanting to lower the rear the most with just shackles this is the way to go. Funny thing is, there is another inch of room under there. Maybe someone will make a 4 inch shackle! The ride quality is same as the 2 inch shackle which is same as stock. My bump stops are trimmed about 1.5 inches from when I had the Hotchkis rear leafs so clearance is not a problem. I forgot to bring my camera to document the whole effort but Mark used his camera to get a shot of the 2 inchers next to the 3 inchers and a pic of the driver side 3 inch installed. I will take some pics of the stance of the truck when I get it washed. I tried today but carwash was closed when I got there. Hope to have all pics up soon.
I also got the #6 off and put the #2 on. Thanks go to Terry for hooking me up with the #2. It was perfectly balanced not a hair of cavitation, amazing. We also got the Denso IT24s removed and put in a set of TR6's gapped at .40. I picked them up at Orielys for $1.50 each. :tu:
I had to remove the Swanson chip since I have dropped the boost and swapped the plugs. I plan on calling Danny tomorrow to procure the next evolution in chips for the L.
A funny thing happened today. I was heading home on the service road of the tollway and ended up at a stoplight next to a Steeda ragtop w/ a Vortech. I had a bad feeling about this one being chipless and -#4 of boost. Sure enough after a slow roll off the line we both nailed it I pulled ahead decently at the start but once he got some RPMs up he slid past me. I was thinking to myself I wish I had put the pulley, plug, chip project off one more week! I stopped and BSed with the guy for about 20 minutes, real cool guy!
Hey Brian, now that I am back down to #2 of boost again it looks like our grudge match is back on. Next time we go to Hallsville I am taking you out for a walk! :D
