Hey Guys:

Have y'all seen the article in the most recent mag (6/2k2) about putting an KB autorotor on the L instead of the standard (article entitled Lightning owners get Screwed)? The article stated that with the same size pullies they were getting almost 20rwhp more than current, and the autorotor can be boosted to 21lbs, making over 580rwhp, if not 600rwhp.

The question beside durability concern is who has the testicular fortitude to step-up to the plate and do this? Inquiring minds...

I'd be willing to put my truck up for R&D if someone wants to pay for the S/C and the install. :D :burnout:

It is essentially a Whipple design and is much more efficient at RPM with much less heat gain. I have seen as much as 50 degrees at 12psi discharge temps. The motor starts coming apart after 14-16psi. The head bolts are weak and they stretch. So you have to ARP stud the heads etc... Are there cheaper ways to get 20HP.... Definately.
As for you Red02 If you fund it I will create it :D

Hummm ...
New pistons and such may be in order as well.

Another problem is the guy that did the conversion had to make a separate custom base for the autorotor. I mean, the motor would make awesome power but who wants to blow the damn thing? The power would be slick but the expense sounds like a kick in the ass too...

Well, according to the article, nothing else was touched. The blower was put in place of the Eaton. They claimed with a minor pulley swap, I think they were running 18-21psi, they made 522rwhp. Sounds like something nice to start saving for :D
