Ok, I am looking for a quality engine builder (302/351/460/4.6/5.4) here in the metroplex. I really do not want to go to keith craft all the way in Arkansas (I am not completely fond of road trips), but I will if needed. I heard alot of awful things about Competition Machine in Plano, and better yet never got the price quote that they promised me either. I have a project I am wanting to begin Any help someone can give would be greatly appreciated! :tu:

Hmmm...what did you hear about Competition Machine? I have a friend that just got two 300zx TT motors built there. They are still being broken in so who knows if they will hold under boost.
So what are the stories? I was contemplating bringing one of my 300 engines there as well

I spoke to a friend that will remain nameless that 5/7 motors that he knows of that were built inhouse for friends of his blown-up (and not to excessive wear either). I don't know the specifics, but those were the stories I heard. Then based on my own personal experience with not getting a quote back on a given time frame, kinda leads me to believe something is up. I am just unwilling to have them build a motor for me on my experience and the fact that if others are having problems, I want none of that.

Give Dennis Wells at Wells Racing in Duncanville a call 972-298-9900. He has been building racing engines for 20+ years. I have put over 100K miles on some mild streetable 350/383 small blocks. He is not cheap though. There is also a guy that uses Well's for machine work that specializes in Fords I think... Anyway he is a reputable builder give him a call and maybe even ask about that guy that specializes in Ford engines. :tu:

Strange... I have a good friend who drives a 10 second pro street Cougar with a 514 BB built by Comp machine... He raves about them...
Ah well, to each his own. There's no shortage of engine builders in DFW anyway...

Funny you mention him, I spoke to my insurance agent who is a Ford freak (he currently has a '67 GT350, one of only 200 built with a factory Paxton supercharger) and he mentioned him as well. Wayne rebuilt his s/c 289 hi-po 4k ago. Sounds like he has made a name for himself.
