Home Air Conditioning Unit shot-suggestions

Just found out my home AC unit is shot and has to be replaced.
I'm probably looking at 2K or more to replace.:eek2: :hammer:


Any suggestions, tips, or leads on this from someone that has been through it before are appreciated.
