View Full Version : Sick Truck!
I blew my first plug friday night. Ford towed it home so it was parked in front of our house only to let someone take my tailgate apart to steal my taillights!!:flaming: A week earlier someone hit my front end and drove off!!!!

Years ago, tailgates were stolen left & right. I had a '81 F-150 that lost 2 tailgates to theft.
Best thing Ford did was to put a key lock on them.

Sorry to hear it! What year is your L?
Hope insurance treats you alright!

2001 with 20k The tailgate was locked and they took the tailgate apart to open it. They left me all the bolts in the bed of the truck and they were nice enough not to scratch anything. I think I was doing about 50 60 mph when the plug blew. Watch out Mark I live in Mesquite also!

Crap, that couldn't have taken less than 5 minutes to do. Or is there a trick to removing tailgates that are locked?
Just seems they spent a lot of time getting your tail light lenses. Surprising that no one noticed them "in action".

If you have a bed cover they can't do it. They remove the six or eight bolts inside the tailgate that hold the service panel on the tailgate. Then just reach in and pull the release.

My blackout light covers got stripped last weekend. I swear if I find some little queer with a screwdriver up on my tailgate I am going to put a bullet in him.:flaming:

Seriously, my FIRST '00 truck was stolen in Tulsa, found a month later TRASHED, got another '00 f-150 Lariat (they stole the spare tire) and now I'm on to the '02 L.

When I came home from England I brought back a 914. Some chump broke in and took all my school books/back pack and the ash tray with maybe $4-5 worth of change in it. Left the CD's and cell phone. This was back in the day when phones were mounted in cars. I found all my books and back pack scattered down the street. It cost me $45.00 to replace the ash tray. Bastards.:flaming:

Best I can figure, they just grabbed the edge and bent the locking rods. They were careful not to scratch anything! :flaming: :flaming: :flaming:
