Tailgate latch (handle)

Hey all I put a Snuglid on my truck this week. Now I've got a really ugly black tailgate latch that breaks up the clean look. Has anyone painted the handle to match? How do you get that thing out of the tailgate? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

It can be painted to match. I think there is someone actually selling prepainted handles.

I have done mine. Of course my truck is white though, but it still looks clean. Lower your tailgate down and you can see the star type head bolts. Just take them out and pull off the back plate. Then the rest is self explanitory. I smoothed my latch down a little before I had it painted. Piece of cake.:tu:

I also had a set of Street Scene mirrors and factory wheels painted white to match at the same time. If sure did change the whole look of the L.

Note to saelf: I wonder what Painted wheels on a red L would look like?
