Stock exhaust is 2.5" Most changes other than long tube headers have shown negligable gains or losses.

Thanks for the info. Im going straight pipes and dual spintech mufflers w/o cats.
Andrew
I might lose the mufflers too, but I am worried about how it would sound. Plus, I need a little back pressure.

That is F body talk:roll Check your dyno charts afterward.:hammer:

You have enough ideas;) Whenever I hear a customer wanting dumps, spin techs, removing cats.. It reminds me of all the kids running around in dumped LS1's because they heard it gained 20hp, not realizing the torque it lost:hammer: Kind of like the Mustang tuners using Stang philosophy on Lightnings. Like one I fixed from a Mustang tuner they installed a C&L 90mm MAF and it wouldn't idle. So they made a chip and shfted at 6600rpm WTF! They were applying Mustang logic to a Lightning. Lightnings have their own way of modding and making power.

so whats the lightning logic when it comes to exhaust?

If you aren't installing long tube headers anything other than a muffler or removing pre cats with a large pulley is a minute gain. The stock exhaust manifolds are the restriction before the main cats. Anytime you drop back pressure you lose some bottom end and gain some top end. Let me know how it works for you.:tu:

"so whats the lightning logic when it comes to exhaust?"

Do it for sound...not performance...you will not see much if any on the dyno and damn sure can't feel seat of the pants...sounds like you are going faster though (I hera, therefore I am):d

what about if your running cams? i know a lot of cams wont run right without headers

That is another small block tradition. Lightning cams are not high duration with low LSA like LS1 or 5L potato cams. The modular motor firing order doesn't accentuate the cam profile. If you get the large top end cams headers will pull more out of them.
