I changed my oil yesterday and I decided to put the mobil1 syn oil in but I used the 15w-50(dont ask me why) . That is probably too thick. Does anyone forsee any issues with that?

I see NO problem with that....IF you meant you changed the oil in your lawnmower:hammer:

I'm switching to Royal Purple 5w 30...and no more mobil1 filters for me. And I don't think you can use that oil in our motors. I'm surprised Terry didn't say anything

I'm sorry. it was a brief response that didn't really make sense. I'm swithcing to RP because it's a better oil in my oppinion after I did some research since it is a true synthetic, over synsyn. And Motorcraft makes quality parts and no sense wasting money on mobil1 filters. I'll take a shot at this, but I THINK I remember you cannot use that weight of oil in cammed motors (andrews stuff).

thanks for the clarification.. there have been a zillion threads on oil on F150online..
the reason I use Mobil1 oil and filters is easy.. there isnt that much difference between M1 and other syns, unless you are always at the ragged edge, and I am not. While the Motorcraft filter is good, I think the M1 filter has a little more filter surface area. Since I use a 6000 mile drain interval, I like having the extra. But I am not 100% sure about the extra surface on the filter.
Lastly, M1 is a lot easier to find since they carry it at the oil change place.
M1 is coming out or has come out with a 5-20W oil as well.

I think this will be the shortest oil duration I have ever had. 1 day, damn. i better go to a different wal-mart this time so they dont know how retarded I am. Maybe I'll jsut do it myself. they had 5qt jugs for 18 bonez at wal-mart. the oil will cost me $25. Think I can use the same filter?

you would probably be ok using the same filter.. do you plan on draining it as best you can? or just do a quick drain and fill? either way, you should be ok..
but I take no responsibility in my response if your engine blows up:evil

Good Luck

Mobil1 5-30 Blue label is what I run, we run 15-50 red Label in the Formula Atlantic and CART engines. The Mobil1 filter filters down to 4-5 microns, I believe the Motorcraft is a 10 micron filter. Motorcrap, made in Mexico and 2.99 should be a clue. I still had new cross hatches in my motor after 25K miles:bows I should have ran cheaper oil and saved up for better rods:hammer:

No coupon thats what I get it for:banana:. It is aplace in Garland but there is a catch he's my friend.:twitch: he always hooks it up. He never looks at my cars any more for inspection he just asks me for the insurance card and thats it. He hooks me up with all the services. I'm not sure he would hook everyone up but I could ask if some of you are interested:twitch::D.

I mean only if you are really interested:d

now that we have successfully hijacked this thread..

what would be your hp to weight ratio in your truck vs your bike?

microsuck
08-06-2003, 09:50 AM
bike = 305/390 = .782
truck=425/4800 = .088
a dodge viper is .136
looks like i've got a viper overpowered by 5.7 times:evil
Andrew
ps. my goal is for the bike to have MORE power than weight. and to have the ratio start with a 1. something.:D
