"If you are in a 30 miles an hour zone, the system would automatically prevent the car going over that speed," he said. Linge said he was well aware of the potential implication for civil liberties of the intrusive potential of the new technology, but at present he was focusing only on the technical aspects.

I've heard talk about this sort of thing in Europe for some time now. Good bye, personal responsibility.

That would seem to be a compelling argument for buying a used car....
I would imagine that that GPS/governed system could be bypassed by some means.
Just out of curiousity though, would that mean that cops wouldn't get to write speeding tickets?....where is the city revenue gonna come from??? :Bullshit

Easy one, The satellite will upload the TPS data, and write an automatic ticket for trying to exceed the speed limit, and right there on your navigation screen will be:
"Dear Sir/madam the TPS data indicates that you were trying to obtain a speed of 60 mph. Your fine is $$$, would you like to have that automatically deducted from your account? Have a nice day.:)"

Don't be too sure, they had auto-tickets in France for speeding in 1994 when I was there: radar, camera, auto send to your address based on the license plate number. I know it was France, but there is some presedence.

People get tickets now for not paying tolls at toll booths...just by using cameras.
