295/40ZR20s are expensive. I can go with 45 profiles and save a few $$$, but I think the 40 proile looks the best with my setup. I've checked Tire Rack, Discount Tire, and a few others. Anyone have suggestions for other sources?

Everyone says the HD tires although 275's are under 200.

That is what I hear. I have heard 175 for HD tires. Goodyear/Ford OEM Size. :D

Might try checking www.treadepot.com to see if they can do any better. We'd hate to see the 'rilla goin tarless.

I like the prices :D It appears the 295/45/18 is not available. I used the Pirelli P7000's on the '98 Z28 and the wear longevity was spectacular :eek: Personally I know from past experiece the F1's don't last (2 sets) I am on my third set and bought the Nitto Extreme 555's. Tread wear and Traction Ratings seem to be subjective. The P7000's that I used on the Z were HR rated and I could power slide them better and control the car to a higher degree than many of the Z/V rated that I have used. I would like to see a High Performance HR rated tyre to fit the Lightning for around 150.00. :D
I think the next set will be the Toyo Proxes S/T
I believe Moonshine used them. We need a report :D

They don't seem to come in a ZR rating.

Daily Driver tires do not need to be Z-rated... I should think a 110mph V rating should do just fine, which it did on my 99... I know Moonshine will agree, the Proxes S/T is a great replacement tire, especially if you don't like replacing your F1's every 12000 miles... Brian's got 25000 miles on his and they're still going strong...
Traction and performance on the S/T is very comparable for street driving and I dare say wet performance is much better.

Ditto what Logan said, except I think the V speed rating is good to 130 MPH. I now have 28K on my Proxes, and they're nowhere near being worn out. Guessing at this point, it looks like I may get close to 40K out of them. I'd definitely buy another set.

Brian,
Is the aspect ratio on the Proxes the same as the F1's?
295/45

I was at Discount tire Saturday getting new tires for my work truck. :D
MAN! Those Proxes are good looking tires and from what Brian has said, they wear very well too.:tu:
Does Discount do the free tire rotation every 4000-5000 miles on those as well?

Dunno about Dicount Tire. I didn't buy mine from them.
And I double checked on the speed rating. V speed rating is good up to 150 MPH.

Well shazam, 150mph should be good enough...

Speed Rating - Miles/Hour - Kilometers/Hour
N=87 MPH, 140km/h,
U=124 MPH, 200km/h
P=93 MPH, 150km/h
H=130 MPH, 210km/h
Q=99 MPH, 160km/h
V=149 MPH, 240km/h
R=106 MPH, 170km/h
Z=149 MPH, 240km/h and over
S=112 MPH, 180km/h
W=168 MPH, 270km/h
T=118 MPH, 190km/h
Y=186 MPH, 300km/h
This came from the Tire Rack Website. They show V & Z rated the same ...... Interesting ... :burnout:

V & Z aren't exactly the same. V is up to 149 MPH, and Z is 149 and over. Either way, it's pretty quick. :burnout:

Nathan has been running those tires for quite a while and likes them pretty well. The lower profile tire may look a little too small for some folks though. :cool:

true six . . .then all you'll need is hydraulics and some neon and you'll be in there! :tu: just kidding of course!! that would be disrespectful to the L. on a serious note the SO2's show well on tireracks tests as well along with the Michelin Pilots . . .only thing is they're a wee bit more than the better SO3's.
