View Full Version : Slick special

L8 APEX

I have put together a slick special for those that have been looking for traction. New aluminum 16X10 wheels, new Hoosier 26 or 28X10.5" slicks mounted and ten lug nuts for these wheels $650 out the door. They take about a week to get in so plan ahead. The Fall classic is only a month away:burnout:

This can be done cheaper with narrower 8" wheels but you sacrafice footprint. And steel wheels just don't have that bling:nono: So I will maintain my standards of quality in providing this package deal:tu: .
Bead locking the rears add $50 bucks.
Front runners on matching wheels can purchased for $375 wheels, tires and lugs.

These are DOT tires ?

I am interested in the 28's - The rims are weight rated to handle the load of the trucks ??

I think I have my Road course rims and tires sold

I also need you to take a look at the front spindles and bearings. I can feel a rubbing at low speed that sounds like bearings.

These are not DOT's, full out slicks. The wheels are HD baby. We'll check whatever:tu:

Well Terry you know my truck and its mods.

I have 3.73 and 4# of boost and make about 405/510

If these rims and tires are your recommendation as the best fit for my truck then order them

That's one heck of a deal Terry. I just bought two new 28x10x16 Hoosiers and paid 175 each mounted and that was just for the tires.....:tu: .

So why don't you bring one of those line locks like Rob has to the track Saturday and put it on for me while my truck cools in the pits? I'll supply the tools and cash.

Tested the new slicks at Ennis Sat

They look great - They hooked good - The more I ran them the better they hooked.

With the instalnt green I never got the RPM where I wanted ofr launch BUT I did get a 1.82 60 just the same.....

Here are 2 pictures.
You can see the rim moved on the tire about an inch .... Not bad - No need to screw them.

Glad you like, I don't remember much from last week, sorry. I would recommend rRancho style bars fi you want better times. Rob is pulling 1.64's on the same slicks. They do get faster as you break them in. I am not too impressed with Jay's truck tracs. We only got 1.78-1.8x's with them.

I have a lowly Eaton and a stock tranny.
I am waiting for our local redneck to remove his Ranchos so I can buy them from him....

I know I could have gotten better 60's with more runs and more time to bring up the RPMs.... The instant green was screwing with me
No charge for the Plug on NLOC and F150.....

Thanks,

This deal still valid?

Are those wheels the American Racing Baja's?

What do the wheels weigh in at?

How much extra for screws?

In order to buy slicks, is it recommended to have the traction bars first? Most of the conversations I have heard in the last couple of weeks at the track have said that you would develop significant wheel hop with slicks, if you did not have traction bars? True?

If so, whats your price on traction bars?

IMO, the fix is simple. Just add 500 lbs. to the bed. :rll: okay, okay. If you're gonna do it, buy Metco. They make ones for lowered and non-lowered L's. (Looking a little confused kid? Yeah.... alittle suprised I know that one.) I'd like to help out on this one, but I just paid the plumber today and obviously I put his kid through college with my bill.

Absolutely. I would not run slicks without bars...and I didn't until I had a set. It is way to easy to have axle wrap and a broken drive shaft without them. I think Terry does the Rancho bars for $450-ish installed. He will obviously know better than I will. Bottom line, don't try slicks without the bars.

Most of my customers use Rancho style bars. They are $375 plus $75 for install. I believe the Metco's are about 100 bucks more.
